The way to use Whatsapp By: Shaikh Maqbool Ahmed Salafi Hafizahullah wa Ra’aah 1. If you receive a verse from the Quran or a Hadith, you should verify it or ask a reliable scholar. This is so you do not commit a sin by spreading false Islamic information. 2. Do not use your Whatsapp to backbite about others. Remember that sharing negative opinions about others will impose all of their sins upon you, without you even noticing. 3. Do not intervene in matters about others, and do not spread anything that would give others a bad reputation. Whoever does so will witness this in their own life by Allah's will. 4. Be like a honey bee that only sits among that which is fragrant, and gives that which is beneficial (honey). Do not share material which has no benefit for others. Do not be like a fly that only dwells among filth. 5. Do not share negative content about your country or city, be a responsible citizen. Be thankful to Allah that you are able to easily pratice your religion within your country. 6. Do not pick out faults of anyone. If you would like to guide someone due to their mistakes, you can do so. Instead of finding faults in others, focus on bettering yourself and your deen. Everyone has the ability to see faults in others. 7. Before sharing any link be sure to get it checked in the case that it may be against Sharee'ah. 8. Before sending a message to anyone, check to see if it is worth their time. 9. It is not necessary for you to share everything you have or know. Our beloved Prophet (PBUH) said: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " كَفَى بِالْمَرْءِ كَذِبًا أَنْ يُحَدِّثَ بِكُلِّ مَا سَمِعَ " . Translation: It is possible for one to become a liar if they share and tell every single thing they hear or read about. (Sahih Muslim: 5) Therefore, it is important to share information that is correct and practical. 10 You should not always be on Whatsapp and be oblivious to the world around you. If you have guests, cater to them. If you are in class, with family or friends, close it. Only use Whatsapp during times that are suitable. 11. Determine how much time you should use Whatsapp and Facebook as well as how much time it takes for you to learn about the teachings of the Quran. Also, determine how much time it takes for you to run regular errands. After that, create a regular routine that you can follow. 12. Share the correct teachings of Quran and Hadith with others as much as you can. Be sure to eliminate misunderstandings and remember to stay on the Right Path. 13. Whatever you send to others will count towards your personal deeds. So try to accumulate as many good deeds as you can this way and refrain from doing those which are bad. May Allah give us the ability to always do good. Ameen.
